5Very Happy.
By Anthony L. Lucich
I'd resisted these machines...I drink a LOT of coffee and I worried about the cost of the kcups. Well, it is a little pricier to use them, but I love the convenience of the system and the variety of coffees available to try. This thing works perfectly. Using the DIY kcups (the kind you put your own grounds into) is easy, but a pain to clean the little mesh filters. I'll just stick to the prepackaged kcups!

would have given a full 5 stars, but occasionally a k-cup malfunctions, and water/coffee spray everywhere! I bought refillable k cups, and only the one expensive keurig one works consistently. If you get that, also get the tiny (I hate to say adorable) paper filters for it, they make a superb pair!the keurig is perfect for making any individual drink, from hot water for your teabag, to the most expensive of k cups. I highly suggest using a k cup twice through for a big cup, the largest setting just seems to add water at the end of the fill, where twice used is half the cost and is working fine for me.everyone can have what they want, no half pots of calf sitting around going to waste anymore! plus, hot cocoa for the grandchild! absolutely awesome product, got the four year warrantee just to be safe.I will answer any questions anyone might have regarding this coffee maker if I can.

5My Keurig and I are deeply in love
By Karen B
Took a while to get here, but seriously, I have just improved my life! Madly in love with my new Keurig, even though I had always thought "What's the big deal?" In a word-Convenience!!!!! My son had tried buying one for me, but I told him I didn't want one. I'm not an old person either at 53, but they just didn't make any sense to me. I can only drink decaf, and the versitility, and convenience of being able to make my husband or anybody else a cup (of just about anything liquid-AMAZING product availability) with absolutely ZERO muss or fuss are so cool, I am just happy as a clam! I'll add more as I use it more (just came today). Hats off to this product, and my son for knowing what I REALLY wanted when I didn't!

5Simply the best.
By LBI Doc
I have had a good number of different superautomatic machines from Jura, Delonghi, Gaggia, and Saeco (now Philips), and I can say hands down that this is the best machine I have ever used. Where to start? Coffee quality is amazing, great crema, ceramic bur grinders are very fast and very quiet, which brings us to the TWO independent hoppers and bur grinders, so that you can fill one with regular, one with decaf, or whatever you choose, and blend them in 25% increments, so if you want a half caf capuccino, you set each grinder for 50% and you are all set. Milk quality is the best I've seen, and also the hottest, and you can make TWO milk based drinks at the same time, a first for a home based machine! Only thing is the USA machines will not do Cafe Lattes, as the European machines will. I called Jura customer service, they were very nice and explained that on the 110v US system simply not enough power to do the simultaneous milk and coffee to make a "true" latte as you can on the 220v Euro machines, I am not a latte fan so I don't miss it, not sure if it would be a deal breaker for some.Setup is simple and intuitive, machine is very classy and looks great on the counter. Large water tank. Really can't say enough good things about it, yes, very pricey, but worth every penny!

This product is truly amazing! It's not only quick, but quiet! Shared a cup of coffee with a friend and she said it was the best coffee she has ever had. I have made several latte's with it and they tasted great. Can't wait to use it a church and share it with them. Super easy to use and set up which is a plus for me. I need easy! Bottom line...you get what you pay for! In this case, quality! I will let you know how I like it after a few month of use.

3Mixed feelings
By Peter Nielsen
I've been using Jura Z-series machines since 2005. I recently upgraded to the Giga5. In most ways this is a good upgrade, although I have mixed feelings about it. These are the pros and cons comparing the Giga5 to the Z-series machines (Z5/Z6/Z7):Pros:-The Giga5 has dual grinders.-The Giga5 can make two cappuccinos at the same time-The frother on the Giga5 is improved over previous models and produces slightly better froth than the Z-series.-The Giga5 can be programmed to automatically rinse on power-onCons:-Small water tank without level indicator. The unit does not warn early enough and may abort the brewing half-way if you're brewing a big cup or two cups leaving you with two weak espressos instead of two coffees.-High price tag makes the value questionable-Brew group not removable-Not available with Chrome facia in the US.The only really negative feeling I have about this machine is that the water tank does not have the visible level indication as many other Jura models have, and to make things worse, it's a tad smaller than the water tank of the Z-series. For example, if you're brewing two cups of cappuccino with the Giga5, you will get the full amount of milk but may end up with only half the amount of programmed coffee if you forget to check the water tank level before starting the brew. You end up with coffee flavored hot milk instead of proper cappuccinos. And a bad mood to start off the morning... Compare this to other Jura models where you can instantly, at a glance, see the water level - something that you will learn to do automatically and unconsciously after a few years of use. With the Giga you have to lift the lid and peek from the top. It requires more work, and it can be hard to determine the water level since looking from the top. At this price point, Jura should at least consider offering a bigger Giga7-style water tank (sticks out and shows the water level) as an option. The first week of using the Giga5 we were really annoyed about the inability to see the water level at a glance and considered returning it. However, now that we've used the Giga5 for a month and gotten used to always lift the lid and top off the water before brewing, it's less of an annoyance. Still, the lack of a water level indicator removes a little bit of convenience compared to older models. I don't know what Jura was thinking here...Another thing worth mentioning is the frother. It is much improved on the Giga5, but it is also more technically challenging to dismantle and clean. The frother on the Z-series is super-easy to clean: Just pull it off, pull out the dial and clean the parts. To clean the frother on the Giga, you first need to remove the cover, then you need to pull off the nozzle, then you need to pull out the frother attachment. Then you need to take apart the frother and clean it. You also need to clean the frother housing on the machine, as there is usually milk residue here too. When putting the frother back together you need to make sure to align the parts. All-in-all it is technically more challenging and takes more time. Cleaning the Z-series frother took 30 seconds, but I probably spend 2~3 minutes with the Giga. Also, this machine uses the same Eugster-Frismag brew group as other Jura models and the brew group is not user-removable, meaning the machine needs to be professionally serviced at regular intervals. (Typically the brew groups won't run more than 2 years without service).Dropping one star for the water tank and another for the high cost, which is questionable considering that a machine at this price point really should have a removable brew group. If you're in between the Jura Z-series and the Giga, you need to ask yourself if the dual grinders and slightly better milk froth is worth the additional cost. The brew quality and crema of a regular espresso/coffee between the Z and Giga is essentially the same because the brew group is the same. However, to a cappuccino lover the Giga is better since it can make two cappuccinos at the same time and the quality of the froth is slightly better. It may also be worth mentioning that the Giga is not the only way to get the improved frothing capability. Jura has incorporated the new technology in the newly released "Professional fine foam frother" attachment (Article #69771). This newly designed frother accessory is sold as an attachment that works with all current and older Jura/Capresso models that has the "connector system". This should produce a frothing quality that is on par with the Giga, so there's no need to spend 5 grand just to get the better froth. It can be achieved at a third of the cost.

5Jura Z7 is the best super automatic if you know the secret
By Steven Perry
I previously owned the S8 for about 7 years and after it broke, I decided to upgrade. I love the way Jura will repair a broken super automatic for 275.00 including round trip shipping no matter what the problem but I still wanted a newer model. I did a great deal of research on superautomatics and even bought a Saeco Xelsis. Unfortunately I had to return it as the latte temp never got above 120 degrees despite calling Saeco and working with their support line. I then bought a Jura Z7 as the manual stated that the milk could be heated up to 159 degrees and the espresso/ coffee up to 197 degrees. I love hot coffee/latte. After trying out the Xelsis, I wanted to buy a sure thing that I knew would make me happy. However, the milk at first came out about 130-140 degrees. It took three calls to Jura to figure out how to get the milk to the temp to what they advertise. One helpful person told me to pinch the tubing exiting the milk container before it enters the machine. This slows the stream of milk and increases its exposure to the heating elements but who wants to spend 3 grand on a machine and have to jury with it to get the milk hot enough. Finally, I was told of two things to do to get the milk temp up and how to keep the temp up in the cup. First, when putting the empty cup under the cappucino spout, press the milk button while the cappucino dial is set on steam water. This will spray very hot steam out of the cappucino spout into the cup. This heats up the tubing in the machine and heats up the cup. The third and most important thing is to align the notch in the cappucino spout dial on the border between the steam water icon and the steam milk icon. After flow begins, turn the dial counter-clockwise until the notch is actually into the steam water section but not so far that it stops the milk flow. By doing this I was able to get my milk temps up to the 180s (checking the temps as the milk exits the spout and before it hits the cup). NOW, I could not be happier with the taste AND and the temp of my lattes. Go Jura!!!

3Warning: Jura Machines break down regularly
By J. Mandell
I don't write many reviews, but just this week, we decided to call it quits with our 4 year old Jura, which was about as expensive as the one Amazon is selling. During long stretches, the coffee was great, as was the frother. But during the 4 years, we had to ship it back to Jura for repairs 5 times, and every time, it was for the same problem. According to Jura's customer service agent, "an air bubble gets trapped in the line and the machine must be disassembled to fix it." Last time, I got pretty annoyed, and the service guy told me quietly that lots of machines have to be serviced more than once for the same reason..For Hello? How about manufacturing a new part, or finding some other way to deal with this design defect? Nope. Instead, it was better for them to keep fixing the machines. After the warranty ended, the cost of the repair, plus professional packing, shipping and insurance was about $300 each trip,Jura makes beautiful machines, but I"m not going to buy another one. The company doesn't care about its customers once they get your money.

3The good, bad and ugly of the Z7
By qkedarg
Bought this capuccino maker about 7 months ago, so we know it well. The initial rationale was that we would save 8 dollars a day and countless wait time both of us stopping at starbucks every day. That has happened. I have been to starbucks twice since I bought this. It makes a pretty good cappuccino, I would say is on par with starbucks, my gold standard. The coffee setting tastes different, since it is really a cup of watered down espresso, but you aren't buying this to brew coffee. In spite of having the tallest spout on the market (at least at the time of my purchase), I still cannot fit my travel mug under it. You know the stainless steel, 16 oz mug you would want to fill up giving you a vente latte on the way out the door. Maybe they dont use these travel mugs in Switzerland, but we all do here... (In fact, I had to build my own wooden holder that holds a tilted travel mug under the spout.)Well not only does the standard version of such mug not actually fit, (most are about .5 to 1 cm off), it brings up my second point, its almost hot enough. Well if you have prewarmed your cup in the microwave, and sat down to sip you cappuccino right then, the temperature will be a barely "ok". But if you are used to ordering your starbucks extra hot, your definately going to be found wanting. And if you have to dispense your drink into a cup, and then transfer your drink to your tall travel mug because it wont fit, your really going to be dissapointed in the temperature.A few other gripes: the thing will only stay on 2 hours, IE it will always turn off, kudos to their green power saving. Problem is, it takes a solid 3 minutes or so to warm up. Then each type of drink you make only contains one shot of espresso. If you want 8 oz of milk with three shots of espresso, you have to turn it on, stand there for 3 minutes for it warm up, then push a button to put an 8 oz cappuccino in, wait another 2 or 3 minutes, then push the button for another shot of espresso, another 1-2 min, then push for another shot of espresso in, another 1-2 moinutes. Does that sound "one touch" to you? For me, it is stading next to a machine for 10 minutes, which is exactly what I am supposed to not have to do. (Not to mention, in the middle of all this you might run out of water, need to empty the tray, or add beans. The chances of one of these lottery wins in your 3 button oddessey are probably 25%)What this machine needs are:Taller spoutThe milk needs a temperature setting, its not hot enough for me.The machine needs a timer, so it can turn on in the morning and warm up.Programmable drinks with multiple shots.Larger bean bin, it probly cooks up only a dozen shots or so per bin.For three grand, these things should be a given!

5A machine for perfectionists!
By Claire Jordan
I have owned this machine (8-cup) for over ten years and everyday when I make my morning cappuccino I love it more. You can spend more for a machine that measures the coffee, tamps it, pulls the water through and steams the milk for you, but you can tip the kids behind the counter at Starbucks and they'll do the same thing. Making espresso should be a little art and a little science and this machine an impeccable balance of the two. If you aren't the kind of person who takes joy in mixing the perfect martini, making a risotto that whispers with flavor, or whipping a meringue to impossibly tall peaks, this probably isn't the machine for you.The La Pavoni is for the person who will find tremendous joy in going to the lengths required to make a perfect cappuccino by hand everyday. (And don't bother using anything less than Illy Cafe coffee in it.)

530 years of service from my La Pavoni Professionale
By Douglas Almquist
I bought my La Pavoni in the summer of 1983 after high school. It was heavily used during college (especially finals week) and has made me superb espresso continually. This morning I made a spiced chai using it. I've been amazed with the quality of the unit. I unfortunately bought a model that had a brass and copper film that looked spectacular for about 8 months then began to peel off. It's now not terribly attractive but still pumps out amazing Java.I estimate I've saved over $25,000 on espresso drinks while maintaining a level of quality beyond what one can get at Starbucks and similar cafés. Being from Seattle, there are now (finally) cafés and baristas locally that are passionate (neurotic) about making excellent espresso and I can match them. I'm very happy with my Pavoni.

After 15 years of near daily use, I thought it was time for me to relay my experiences and opinion on the La Pavoni PC-16.This review is for the pre millenium model. The current production model does have slight differences with the group being slightly largerI was a bartender and barista for about 3 years in a high volume cafe and bar, and believe that this gives me a reasonable level of proficiency in making espresso and espresso based drinks. The La Pavoni PC-16 is a manual lever group and operates in a manner that is much different from automatic and semiautomatic machines. This must be appreciated and understood by the potential buyer, or it may cause dissapointment. The concept of preinfusion is why a lever machine can produce a truly outstanding shot of espresso. This is where water wets the grounds prior to the applying of pressure, and this is what makes a lever group superior to other mechanisms in my estimation. The ability to preinfuse the grounds manually can drastically change the result of the shot. For example, the lever is slowly raised to a count of 5, and only then does the lever get lowered. Since this is a manual machine, this means that you alone are raising and lowering the lever, there are no pumps or springs to do the work for you. As the lever is raised, you will hear the water entering the group. This is when your count begins. The amount of time that is taken to do the preinfusion step is what can drastically alter the result of the shot given that the grind, group temperature and tamp is identical. Now I will decribe the various details that go in to the requirements for producing a quality shot from the PC-16.The grind is the most difficult part to correctly apply when dealing with this machine. As perfect of a consistency is absolutely necessary with a fluffy grind, no clumping will be tolerated. You will need to judge this on your own, but a slightly finer than average espresso grind is what it takes to get thick crema with minimal blonding during extraction. I still wind up with the occasional sink shot because of this machines absolute sensitivity to grind quality.I use a light tamp, about 10 pounds of pressure, leaving approximately 1/4" space from the top. Pay extra attention to achieving a level surface. The Elektra Microcasa A Leva portafilter basket allows more coffee to be used than the PC-16's with far better results. Between 19 and 20 grams of freshly ground beans being the ideal amount. Refer to Orhanespressos slap shot method.Get a good tamper with 90 degree corners and a flat bottom. I use a custom fabricated stainless steel one, but there are many available online. Unit to unit variation means a standard 49mm tamper may not work.Water quality. I prefer reverse osmosis versus other methods of filtration including various mineral waters. Experience has shown that r.o. has given the thickest crema and most complex notes. Distilled resulted in a slimy shot with various mineral waters giving a range of quality from good to poor. Chlorine and chloramines found in most tap water tastes terrible and will quickly degrade the rubber gaskets. It is best to avoid descaling, since it always affects machine performance negatively. Rather use water that is already softened.Compared to a commercial machine, the PC-16 makes a much more intense shot with more clearly defined flavor. This can be a double edged sword, depending on what it is that you are looking for. This machine gets hot quickly, and have found that more than 2 shots isn't possible without turning the machine off for a while. Do not flush or run any water through the group before pulling a shot. This will only raise the group temperature. I have discovered a pretty simple way of dealing with the excessive and destructive heat by placing clean and dryportafilter baskets in the freezer and taking them out a minute before filling them with coffee. For years I believed that perfect microfoam was nearly impossible. The original 3 hole tip is virtually useless. Later I used a 4 hole tip from a Faema machine that allowed me to make nice latte art but not true microfoam. However, with a single hole tip, the user can easily achieve beautifully textured microfoam. This simple and inexpensive modification is a must if properly textured milk is of any importance to you.Even with the use of a single hole tip, the machine still will not produce enough steam power to get the super dry foam that you would get in a traditional cappuccino in the Italian style but is still sufficient for an excellent latte. There is no anti suction valve, the steam wand will draw milk back into the water tank. Pour out water and refill before turning on machine. And lastly, make sure that everything is maintained. Generally just a matter of changing the gaskets every 2-4 years depending on use. Keep the machine off when not in use. If you aren't comfortable working with tools, find a local tech that works with espresso machines. You can usually find one in most cities. Always respect the machine. The La Pavoni PC-16 can represent a steep learning curve, but like me, you can be rewarded with outstanding espresso and enjoy the process.

5I love this coffee maker
By Hugh M. Smith
I have been using Keurig coffee makers for over 2 years. I bought this one because I wanted to hook it up to my home plumbing system. I also bought the home plumbing components. It works great hooked up to my home water. Like my other Keurigs, this one makes great coffee. The device is rugged and would work in a small office but I have it at home.Hooking the device to my home water system cost a little. You need the Keurig B150 Direct Water Line Plumb Kit and the Keurig B150, B200, B3000, B3000se, Deluxe Filter Kit. The filter kit is needed to keep your warranty with Keurig. I also bought some 1/4 inch water line tubing but your plumber should already have this. I had to hire a plumber to do the work. For me well worth it.

4Pretty good coffee maker
By W from Chicago Metro
This Keurig does the job. We ordered the direct line hookup and after having to order another part, it all worked as plan. I have been able to find decent coffee on Amazon. Even some that is not as environmentally wasteful as some of the coffee containers. Prices are more than just buying coffee but the convenience in the office more than makes up for it. You can control strength by selecting the number of ounces that will be contained in your cup. I am a serious rich coffee fanatic and find that the Keurig is good enough for the office, but I have not found any blend, including packing my own that matches my drip or my french press. Most people in the office are quite pleased with coffee and tea.

Very easy to use and setup! You can limit cup sizes and change the fixed brewing temp, but the users cannot.

Brews Coffee Quickly, and keeps coffee hot. I bought this for a warehouse facility that has over 150 people, and it keeps up just fine.
