3Changed review a bit
By Kathleen H. Quinn
This is my 4th expresso machine in the last 20 years and my 2nd DeLonghi one. I love it. You do have to read and follow all the directions before getting started, you have to pre-heat and you can't just turn it on and walk away like I have been able to do before. So, preparing the coffee does require your attention. But,it makes a great cup of espresso with nice crema. I can even froth for cappuccino with this one, which has been a challenge before. It is like a mini commercial machine. I like the one cup and two cup filters that can be stored in the water tank area. I like the "tamp" on the end of the measuring spoon. I like the look of it - red goes with my kitchen and it comes in many other colors. Only drawback is that it doesn't have the carafe like my previous DeLonghi and the old carafe doesn't fit under the filter. Amazon delivery was great. All in all, I am very satisfied with it.Update 03/28/2012 This machine was great for almost 2 months [I got it December 27,2011].Then the coffee would just drip, drip out.And I didn't always get the crema layer. Descaled. Cleaned out all outlets following directions in the instruction book.I always wipe down the coffee outlet after each brewing cycle, anyway. And the holes weren't clogged. I use spring water. Contacted customer service via e-mail and was in contact with them for the last month.Did all their suggestions.Suggested I use less coffee and tamp less.I did although I don't know why that was not a problem for 2 months. Had Starbucks grind the coffee rather than grinding myself as usual. Finally could get the two cup filter to produce a decent cup.Coffee just stayed in one cup filter and dripped out. They sent another 1 cup filter, but same story. They now want me to ship the machine to a service center at my expense. I don't know if I want to do that.I could see if it was a year old, but two months! I told them to send me a new machine and then I would send this one back. They are not going to do that. For now, I will just use the 2 cup filter and think twice before I buy another DeLonghi.

2Disappointment So Far
By Amazon Buyer
I bought this espresso machine partly because it was a gift for my wife and she liked the way it looked and we had read mixed reviews but mostly good ones and it was at a decent price. When we got it, it worked great. It was a great little machine that made good coffee. We enjoyed it for all of about three weeks however before it stopped working. It literally would not turn on one morning and I called the DeLonghi customer service center and they said I would have to send it in to an approved service center. Since it was still under the one year warranty they stated all I would have to pay was the shipping to the service center. I was somewhat disappointed by this and told the lady on the line that I have had it less than a month and they would really expect me to pay for outgoing shipping? She would not budge so I sent it to this place called the Coffee Boss (on the east coast) on August 6, 2012. Needless to say I still don't have my espresso machine back. I have called both DeLonghi and the Coffee Boss multiple times a week for the past month and all they can tell me is that the part has been shipped (They told me that a month ago as well). So I am somewhat frustrated at two things. First that the espresso maker would break after only three weeks of use and secondly that the customer service at both DeLonghi and the service center have been very bad. It is only after I threatened to send me the espresso maker back and I would send it somewhere else did the service center actually keep me on the line as they called DeLonghi themselves and ask where the part was. I still don't have a definitive answer but I will update this review as I find out more. Who knows, this might all be a fluke, I might have had the bad luck of getting a defective machine and then sending it to an incompetent service center. I'm sure there are other customers who have had no problem whatsoever with this espresso maker and have had it for years. I think the bottom line is that before you look at the price and immediately want to buy it, take all things into consideration and make a well informed decision.

5INCREDIBLE POWERFUL CUTE
By AP
After my $500 dollar Breville broke after two years, I started shopping around for something good and not insanely expensive. I tried a cheaper version from my local store, and it did not deliver any foam/power. Then, saw this gorgeous little yellow number at Crate and Barrel and fell in love. Now, I got one for my mom as a gift. Every visitor that uses this machine in my house loves it and can't believe what great espresso and what powerful foam it yields. A PERFECT machine that does not cost $1000. The instructions are well designed and simple and the machine is likewise straightforward and excellent. It also looks cuter and takes up half the counter space than most other machines.

5Just what I wanted
By Dennis Anderson
I have purposely waited for more than 3 months since my purchase to write a review, as I wanted to make sure the satisfaction lasted. I chose this model for the features, and for the appearance of being more substantially made than some similarly priced competitor models. It was easy to set up and get started. I do agree that the directions could be more helpful in the "how-to" department for novice espresso makers like me. I put this in my office for the purpose of replacing my daily mid-afternoon Starbucks latte purchase habit. After some experimentation with various beans, tamping pressure, and degrees of grinding, I was able to produce a product that easily rivals what I had been buying over the counter....And for probably .45 - .50 per cup! I have found that the temperature varies somewhat from one cup to another, probably depending on my performance as a barista. Since there is not a cup warmer included, I learned to microwave a cup of water in my latte cup while I'm grinding and frothing. I like my coffee very hot, so on the occasion that drink is still not hot enough, I simply stick the finished product into the microwave for 30 seconds (although I'm sure this probably horrifies espresso purists). All in all, a very good machine for the money. Everything continues to work as designed, and clean-up is very simple.

5Great Machine
By Michael Sego
It was easy to set up and get going. I love the bean grinder. The doser is great too. You just have to keep and eye on it, it's small. It makes great espresso the first time. It has a disc to help with that. You can remove it and tamp hard the old fasion way. For the price range it's a good buy. I have 3 different types of coffee makers now. This is my favorite. I use it to make American's each morning instead of brewing a pot in the conventional machine

1Looks Great But Doesn't Last
By Diane Zyczkiewicz
I searched all over looking for a dependable expresso/capuccino machine. No reviews were available at the time I purchased this in January,2009. Seven months later the steam arm got overheated and stopped working. While it worked it made a great foam. It was lightly used most of the time so I was shocked when after 6 cups one morning it got overheated. Couldn't find the manufacturer's site where I can send it in for repair. I've been using the Aerolatte stainless steel frother which makes a great froth for my capuccino. I froth the milk after I heat it in a separate pot while the expresso is being made in the Espressione unit. If I knew how well the Aerolatte worked I would have never spent so much money on this combination. I'll never buy a multi-function unit again.

5Durable and WELL worth it!
By Amazon Customer
Had this coffee maker installed with my home remodel nearly seven years ago now. MORE than paid for itself MANY TIMES over (hey, nearly $5 a pop of your favorite brew adds up FAST).Easy to care for. Only one problem since the installation was fixed with a quick call to VERY friendly and helpful Miele customer service. They walked me through fixing the problem (less than 15 minutes) and sent me a part replacement kit just in case the part needed replacing (it didn't, but I kept it just in case).DURABLE is what surprised me; I use it at least 4-7 times daily more on the weekends without a hitch. (How many things do you use that often in a day, every day for seven years without a screw up?) It will not take "flavored" coffees (beans that have been coated in flavoring) as that will gum up the works, but then again who really wants gunk coated beans, anyway?Of all the "toys" I bought for my new kitchen; this has been the most impressive.

5Great machine !
By sirensslave
I've had my Miele for 7 years now. I don't use it every day but mostly on the weekends. It's always made a superb cup of espresso/cappuccino. The biggest issue for me is that it's loud so if you're an early riser and your family is not.. it might wake someone up. Yes.. you have to take care of it. I guess the fact that it's a sleek looking appliance that impresses family and friends leads people to believe it will function without problems if you don't take a few moments to clean it after using it! Every once in a while it gives me a message that something needs to be taken care of... descaling. Not that much of an issue. Yes, it will take about 30 minutes but hey.. they could have not added this feature and the machine could have gotten clogged with lime and then everyone would be complaining about the fact that it stopped working after a few months. Thanks Miele for making the machine not function until you do the descaling. It even counts the cups of coffee it makes and when you need to descale. The steamer. it totally comes apart. Run some steam through and it's clean. The brew unit inside. Grab a toothbrush, run some hot water and soap through it and it's squeaky clean. Coffee beans have a lot of oil so keep that in mind. Get a good dish detergent that is tough on grease and your job will be easy. The waste unit. Same thing. Soap, hot water and a toothbrush or bottle brush to get into the nooks. Wipe the machine down when you use it and you'll be good. I did get an error this weekend but googled it and all it was was that some water got into the wrong place. The manual did say to call service and I panicked but I always google things before calling repair. All I did was take a dishtowel, soak up the water that accidentally went into the wrong place and it's back on board. The bottom line is this.. We go to the coffee shops and drop $$ on a cup of coffee and it tastes great. We don't see the time it takes for the staff to properly clean the machines. This makes a fabulous cup of espresso but no.. even at $3k, it doesn't come with your personal barrista. After living in my place for 7 years, I've had to drop quite a few dollars on repairs for all of my other high end appliances but.. knock on wood... not this machine.

5The single most loved item in my entire house
By Dr. Kevin A. Swartz
I'm not going to say anything about the specs; etc since this can be looked up.We have a Miele : CVA4075 Plumbed Coffee System - Stainless Steel that was already installed in the house we purchased. It was installed about 2 years prior to us moving in and then we've lived here for 2 years. My wife and I use it every single day and sometimes twice a day, so at an average of 12 shots of espresso per day x 2 years = we've almost made 9,000 shots of espresso with this machine ourselves and have not had one single problem with the machine. This machine is completely automatic, just keep it full of beans, turn it on, and hit the espresso button. Cleaning is as simple as could possible be conceived. It has a drip tray and a coffee ground tray that needs dumped and wiped down twice a week. The machine prompts you to do the fancier internal cleaning which is almost completely automatic - probably have to do this once a month. In short, I call our espresso machine, "My most favorite thing I never paid for!". If we were to ever move, I would definitely put down the cash to install another one in any future house. Avoiding having to physically go to a Starbucks every day surely makes up the cost over some reasonable amount of time.Seriously, I can't say enough how much this item rocks. Note: I think the latest version of this machine is now the Miele CVA4066SS 24 Built-in Whole Coffee Bean System with Plumbed-In Water Connection

Capresso brings you an "entry-level" espresso machine that will serve your needs as a beginning home barista using the EC Pro's included enhanced portafilter that eliminates the immediate need for a grinder and tamping. As your skills advance you can make use of the included "bottomless" portafilter handle that uses your ground coffee and allows you to see the extraction as it takes place.

The double-spout portafilter features a built-in system that makes it easy and fast to create espresso, even if it is the first time you have used an espresso machine. It brews one or two servings at a time by simply filling the basket with ground coffee, inserting it into the machine, and starting the brew cycle. The system in the portafilter body creates the resistance to the water flow automatically.

The included bottomless espresso filter uses coffee you grind. The adjustment you make to your grinder controls the flow of the espresso. Grind finer to slow the flow and more coarsely to speed up the flow (grinder not included). Because this handle has no bottom, you can instantly see the espresso as it is created and make adjustments to your procedure accordingly. A bottomless portafilter is optional at additional cost with most machines if it is available at all! The ability to grind your own coffee and adjust the grind aids in producing richer, thicker crema.

Bundle Includes

1- Grand Aroma Whole Bean Coffee (8.8oz),Espresso

1- Coffee Measure

1- ESPRESSO TAMPER (CD)

2- 10oz Handy Glass Coffee Mug

5Extremely pleased.
By Jersey Monkey
This machine is well made from solid materials. It's a crossover from a professional model that's designed for use in the home. I like the simple, no-frills coffee brewing process (fewer buttons means fewer things that can break). It's easy to clean and fill and delivers a great cappuccino. I have yet to explore the "endless brew" portafilter but recommend that it be featured in the product photo. It was a pleasant surprise to find while I was unpacking but think it should be made known to prospective buyers. I am extremely pleased with this product.

5Very nice espresso machine
By kewtoo
Bought this from BB&B using their 20% one-item discount and free shipping (so GREAT deal). It replaced my 2 year old DeLonghi. This is a great machine - It did take a few tries to get the grind and tamping right but I think all machines are like that. The machine seems very well made, holds a lot of water and is overall very user-friendly. Does a great job frothing also. Very happy with my purchase.

It's a solid machine that looks good too, love the frothing wand. I can't wait to try the bottomless portafilter after I purchase a good grinder. Really happy with the machine overall.
