Have been using this new coffee pot for 3 days and absolutely LOVE IT! I wanted a higher-quality more reliable coffee maker. Have been a Cuisinart user for the past 7 years. Liked the coffee a great deal but my Cuisinart finally died. After hours of reading all the Amazon reviews, it is amazing to me that in 2013, apparently we as a people have yet to build a decent coffee maker. This Panasonic comes really close....It's no frills, a basic coffee maker. No timer, no clock, just very high quality engineering. There is a single button, the "ON" button. Use paper filters or the reusable metal mesh filter. Both work just fine. A mechanical slider (yeah!) for low, medium, or strong coffee. The coffee tastes fantastic! Very hot, and the stainless steel carafe keeps it piping hot for hours.Only quibble, there is an annoying drip from the carafe. Can't really figure out the cause, but something is not tightly sealed. You pour your cup of coffee and there will be one or two drops dribbling from the spout, down the side of the carafe onto the counter. It's weird, and annoying, particularly at this price point.Ultimately the engineering, ease of use, and terrific coffee are making me overlook the drip issue, but down the road I may investigate getting the carafe replaced. We will see how good the Panasonic customer service is.... Stay tuned...UPDATE: 05 JULY: Contacted Panasonic Customer Service via Email as required through their site. 5 days later recieved a response with a telephone number to call to get my issue resolved. Called the number and Panasonic will NOT ship/exchange a new thermal carafe. The only option is to pack-up the entire coffeemaker in the origional packaging (long since discarded) and ship back to Panasonic where the unit will be "repaired" and returned. Of course I'm not doing that, I actually use my coffee pot every morning. I'm not shipping it off for a month or more just to get a leaky carafe replaced.Bottom Line: Great engineering, great coffee, very poor customer service. Perhaps Panasonic has not fully realized the difference between selling TVs and stereos vice selling home appliances. A pitty really... Buyer beware....

I've had my eye on this since the day Panasonic announced it.Being a very happy multiple Lumix owner, I admit to a hint of brand loyalty.Anyway, the coffee maker was on my wish list, but I had no real intention of buying it due to price tag shock. However, reading the only amazon review of the coffee maker I found the almost-too-good-to-be-true offer from Panasonic. At the time Amazon listed the NC-ZF1H for about $240. Through Panasonic I got it for about $105.My evaluation, any price considerations aside:The coffee maker is made from plastic, stainless steel and glass, in that order.Basically you have a plastic frame, skinned in brushed stainless steel with glass panels/windows.Those are glass panels, yes. Unlike in the Panasonic kettle from the same collection which has plastic windows. The brushed "stainless" steel on this machine gives the expression "greasy fingers" new meaning.Be prepared to polish more often, any finger prints will leave their mark. That is the case with all brushed steel, however. The carafe is probably the best-made part of the coffee maker. Don't get me wrong the whole machine is well made. It does not feel flimsy or look cheap. However, the carafe feels more solid.Any surface that comes into contact with water is made from plastic. Except the carafe wish has a stainless steel interior. The design is simplicity itself. One Tank, one filter, one carafe and ONE button.Oh, and there is also the water flow adjustor with three settings: light, medium and strong. The machine comes with a scoop, a plastic mesh filter and a tea-making adapter, which is basically a mini funnel you place inside the filter. The coffee this machine makes is perfect. At least for my taste. It heats the water to just the right temperature. The coffee is hot and flavorful. There is no bitterness, griminess or any other unpleasant aftertaste. Time will tell whether it maintains that level of performance, or whether the plastic will start to reek of stale coffee and impart its aroma to the coffee.I gave the coffee maker 5 stars. Well-deserved at the price I paid for it ($105).I would take a star off for every $50 on top of the price I paid or expect more for the money:NC-ZF1H at $105 5-starsNC-ZF1H at $150 4-stars or gold-plated filter and glass or polished stainless steel funnel.NC-ZF1H at $200 3-stars or gold-plated filter, glass/steel funnel, and less plastic in construction.NC-ZF1H at $250 2-stars or gold-plated filter, glass/steel funnel, less plastic, and stainless steel tank interior...If you can get this coffee maker for less that $120, go for it. You won't regret it. Otherwise get a Bunn with thermo-carafe.The Bunn BT Velocity ($135)is listed as commercial grade here on Amazon, though that's a bit a of a stretch. Still its an excellent coffee maker. The NC-ZF1H performs just as well and I can tentatively say its also as well-made. The Panasonic just looks better (though that's a matter of taste).

I decided to treat myself and purchase a 'quality' (AKA 'expensive') coffee maker. The Panasonic NCZF1H went on sale and I grabbed it. The coffee has been good. I am totally satisfied with that aspect. The machine looks nice in the kitchen. It has a single button to start the brewing. No timer, no clock. Simply elegant. The only negative issue concerns the carafe. It dribbles! It dribbles everywhere! I read many reviews online that reference this spilling issue, but I thought it would not apply to me when I purchased the coffee maker. I was wrong. Unwilling to write-off the inflated cost and replace it; I tried pouring fast, slow, off to the side; every which way I could. I found that if I pour VERY slowly, the coffee doesn't drip as much. But when tipping the carafe to get the last 2 cups out of it; coffee still goes everywhere! I assume it is a problem with the seal between the carafe top and the base. I like the idea that the coffee brews through the lid, then seals when removed from the brewing platform, but there's a flaw in the engineering.I contacted Panasonic customer service by phone. When I finally spoke to a representative I was told that I needed to write customer service. I may give that a shot.Thinking that this overpriced coffee machine is destined for the trash; I purchased a BUNN coffee maker as its replacement. But to discard the Panasonic would be a sign of defeat; so I continue to attempt to master the pour. Eventually the aggravation and coffee stains will surely cause me to reach a breaking point and I will toss the Panasonic down the incinerator chute. My suggestion: Spend your money elsewhere. At this price point there are plenty of great coffee makers out there. Who needs such aggravation in the morning, especially before having that first cup of coffee?
